Sloaney Events: Peddling for Patisserie

Last weekend, The Sloaney, was invited to attend a preview of the upcoming ‘Peddling for Patisserie’ coffee and cake cycling cruise that takes place on Saturday 8th October.

Bicycles offer a healthy and convenient method of transport and the streets in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea provide some beautiful scenery. Many people are intimidated by the busy roads in London; however, you should not be put off peddling for this reason as a labyrinth of quiet lanes, avenues and mews routes await every journey.

To encourage residents to enjoy the benefits of cycling, Bikeminded are inviting you to join a tour. Not only will the tour reveal some of the shortcuts available to cyclists in the borough, but it will also incorporate some of the most prestigious and delicious cake shops.

You can enjoy the journey at a leisurely pace and it will be a thoroughly pleasurable experience. Starting at a fashionable coffee spot in Notting Hill, the tour passes through Kensington Gardens, before weaving through Knightsbridge to stop at Pierre Herme for some award-winning macaroons. The Sloaney  tried the ‘Rose’ flavour macaroon and it was simply divine. The tour completes in Chelsea, where high tea is ready and waiting.

With The Sloaney’s fondness for fashion, a highlight of the tour was the cycle past Harrods, before venturing along Sloane Street. Some of our favourite designers looked as enticing as the delicious pink macaroon from Pierre Herme.

The tour costs just £5, which is a great price considering the treats on offer. With a limited number of places available, you must book a slot in advance.

Sloaney People: The Duchess of Cambridge steps out in Amanda Wakeley

The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out earlier today on an official engagement to visit the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in South London. Catherine dressed for the warm weather in a classic cream Amanda Wakeley dress, which she teamed with nude heels from high street store, L.K. Bennett
It seems that one of Kate's favourite style secrets is to use nude heels to create the illusion of longer legs. Although she continues to steer towards the safe side of fashion, her look today was typically elegant. What you do think of the outfit?

Sloaney Style: Indian Summer

England has been blessed with some late warm weather and now is the perfect time to enjoy the 'Print Dress' trend. Those currently attending Milan Fashion Week have been flaunting a number of stylish patterns and The Sloaney has as ideal outfit that is ready and waiting for the Indian summer.

This fabulous shift dress by Matthew Williamson (£750) reflects the coastal tones that have been prominent on the catwalk this week. The abstract print showcases blue and green hues, which complement these gorgeous olive boots from the Jimmy Choo winter collection (£695).

Although the sun may heighten the temperature during daytime, be prepared for a cool bite in the air as dusk arrives. This delicate silk and cashmere blend scarf from Alexander McQueen (£260) features the signature skull print and will add an edgy twist to your outfit. Finally, reaffirm the olive influence with this practical Gucci shoulder bag (£1,290).

Sloaney Events: JuJu’s Fashion Soiree

Don’t forget about the exclusive Fashion Soiree taking place at JuJu Chelsea on the King’s Road later this evening. As previously reported on The Sloaney, a number of designers will be showcasing their latest collections in a catwalk show to raise money for the Prince’s Trust, Peace Wind Japan and Right to Play.

Sloaney Style: Country Chic

With the leaves turning a golden brown, the grass becoming dewy and the mornings misty, there is no better time of year to escape the city and take a walk through Britain’s glorious countryside. Sloaney Style has created a chic outfit for those planning to mosey through valleys or saunter across fields this autumn.

Starting with the collaboration of Hunter and Jimmy Choo, the new Hiker Boot is undoubtedly the most desirable wellington boot of the season. Available in both a tall and short version, The Sloaney recommends the longer style (£255) as a savvy and timeless investment.
This boot will look fabulous over these modern leggings from Stella McCartney (£655), which in turn complement the python-print silk tank by Chloe (£385). The exotic print suits this elegant piece, which will have you looking effortlessly chic. Finally, wrap up warm as the weather changes in the fabulous sheepskin jacket from Mulberry (£2,000).

Sloaney Fashion: Sculpted knitwear on show at the Bethan Juliff SS12 preview

On Friday evening, The Sloaney, had the pleasure of attending a preview of the Spring/Summer 2012 collection by  knitwear designer, Bethan Juliff.
Knitwear can typically be associated with delicate cardigans or cosy jumpers that keep you nice and warm during the winter months. However, Bethan’s pieces proved significantly more adventurous.
The talented designer presented a chic and sculpted collection of high-fashion dresses at Kensington Roof Gardens. Bethan is available for private commissions and the pre-designed items typically retail at between £800 and £1,200. Below are some highlights from the collection.

Sloaney Fashion: Expressing your femininity with Tiffany & Co.

Jewellery is crucial to every woman’s wardrobe. Not only does it complement our favourite outfits, but it also expresses our style in either a subtle or dramatic way.
This beautiful Tiffany Garden Butterfly Pendant (£365) recently caught my eye. The elegant and feminine piece is from the Tiffany & Co. Garden Collection, which takes its inspiration from nature.

Sloaney Fashion: Best Dressed at London Fashion Week

Although Pippa Middleton’s appearance at London Fashion Week prompted the cameras to flash, she failed to make a significant mark in the style stakes. Rather, British model Rosie Huntington-Whitley, earns credit for her chic outfits. The trench coat has long been a wardrobe staple and Rosie modelled it gracefully when arriving at the Burberry show.

Keen to remain on trend, the svelte beauty also worked the monochrome look with panache. The fur detail gave this feminine outfit a glamorous feel.

Another stylish lady to receive a nod from The Sloaney is Laura Bailey. Similar to Rosie, Laura opted to don a traditional trench for the Burberry show; her yellow glasses and ankle socks gave the outfit a retro twist.

Sloaney People: Pippa Middleton at the Temperley show during London Fashion Week

Pippa Middleton stole some of the limelight at yesterday’s Temperley show, which took place as part of London Fashion Week. Wearing a new season Temperley dress, she was all smiles whilst watching the show unfold from the front row.

Elegant and dreamy designs were the main focus on the runway and other well-known faces appreciating the collection included Rosario Dawson and Peaches Geldof.

Sloaney Events: Sheep on the King's Road

Well, it isn't everyday you come across sheep on the King's Road! The Berkeley Hotel may have brought the countryside to Knightsbridge this summer with their Green and Spring Cottage, but Jigsaw has gone one better.
The clothing company has a shiny, white sheep pen positioned outside their shop in Chelsea. If you are in the area this week, you simply must pop by and say hello to the wooly friends.
